Council of Administrators of Special Education
The Council of Administrators of Special Education is an international professional educational organization which is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children.
Standards for the Special Education Administrator:
- Makes serving and supporting exceptional children and their parents the primary responsibility;
- Strives to be proficient in current professional practice;
- Supports study and research guided by the conventions of scholarly inquire;
- Respects the privacy of students and parents and holds as confidential information in accordance with State/Provincial and Federal laws;
- Regards colleagues, parents and students with respect, courtesy, fairness, and good faith;
- Upholds and advances the values, ethics knowledge and mission of the profession;
- Fosters and supports maximum self-determination and independence on the part of exceptional children;
- Utilizes impartial professional judgment in evaluating the needs of exceptional children and their parents;
- Accepts the responsibility to provide meaningful training experiences to colleagues, general educators, and the public;
- Promotes the general welfare of exceptional children.

The BCPVPA is an autonomous professional association that strives to ensure its members have the skills and resources to be effective educational leaders. - The BCPVPA has now published the Leadership Standards for BC Principals and Vice-Principals. The intended purpose of the leadership standards is to provide a framework for professional preparation and growth of aspiring and practicing principals and vice-principals. The structure of the leadership standards describe effective, observable leadership actions which can be used for self-assessment, self-reflection and as the basis for personal professional growth planning. - British Columbia School Superintendents Association
- The members of the BCSSA are the superintendents, assistant superintendents, directors of instruction and other senior executives of BC's 60 school districts. The key work of the BC School Superintendents Association is to enable members to be visionary leaders of public education by supporting their individual professional development and by representing their collective wisdom and interests.
